Community Planning is the name given to a program where the Golden Plains Shire allocates funds to Dereel as a township, and the community decides how it is spent. This money is not given to any particular group. Interested community members can volunteer to be part of the Community Planning group, where projects are determined and project leaders allocated. This is done through a series of facilitated meetings, where the community can suggest ideas and vote on the projects they would like to see happen. The facilitator is an independent contractor who is neither part of the Dereel community, nor connected with Golden Plains Shire Council.

What Dereel Did in the 2016 to 2019 Community Planning Cycle
If you would like to see what happened in the previous Community Planning cycle (2016 to 2019) you can view the plan which was put to council in 2016, and the list of projects which were completed over the 3 years. Note that the Dereel Soldier’s Memorial Hall had recently been renovated, with additional rooms built on immediately prior to the Community Planning cycle commencing. Many of these projects were to enable the venue to function effectively for a wide range of purposes.
