New Shelves: Book Swap and Food Is Free

new shelves for a book exchange and food is free Dereel

The Dereel Men’s Shed have been very busy lately, and this is another of their projects installed for the community to use. David Jaunzems refurbished a cabinet and shelves, which have been installed near the children’s mural.

At the top, a glassed in cupboard will serve as a library or book exchange when the Community Centre is closed, with the glass doors protecting books from the elements. The larger community library is located within the Dereel Community Centre building, alongside the Dereel Soldier’s Memorial Hall. This is accessible on Tuesdays, at the moment.

Open shelves below the book exchange are for the Food Is Free Dereel contributions. You may leave plant-based food, seeds, plants and take what you can use. Please don’t leave perishable foods.

Use the Food Is Free Dereel Facebook page to notify the community there is food to collect so your produce is used.
