Murals on Display

Geoff from the Dereel Mens Shed with 'In The Garden' community mural.

Thanks to the Dereel and Surrounding Communities Mens Shed for mounting the two murals created at the Dereel Arts Festival in November 2019.

With the theme ‘In the Garden” one mural was created by adults attending the Arts Festival, with local artist Glynis M Bryden adding her distinctive drawings to bring the painting together. In a similar collaboration, children from the community contributed to a second mural with the theme “Having Fun”. Again, Glynis added her delightful touch to complete the painting.

Both murals have been stored on the stage at the Dereel Soldier’s Memorial Hall over the year long period where the Hall and Community Centre have been closed. Now that the community is emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns, the Men’s Shed were able to place the murals in their permanent locations.

Thanks to everyone involved in this project, which was funded by the Golden Plains Shire Community Grant for Art In Dereel.
